Tariff Update: GOOD NEWS!
Hello and Happy 4th of July!
We are thrilled to share that we have just received almost all of our IEEPA tariff refund. We are going refund 100% of the IEEPA (International Emergency, Economic Powers Act) tariffs that we had to collect for goods imported before February 24th, 2026.
The products included in this round of tariffs were our fall bulbs: tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, allium, fall peonies, and other “miscellaneous fall bulbs” that were imported before February 24th, 2026 during the IEEPA tariff period enacted by the Trump administration.
After months of rulings and appeals, the Supreme Court ruled, on February 24, 2026, that the Trump administration IEEPA tariffs were illegal. This refund is a result of that ruling.
Immediately following that ruling in February, without a single day free of import tariffs, the Trump Administration found another obscure loophole for charging import taxes. They applied the Trade Act of 1974. This application has ALSO been ruled illegal by a trade court. The Trump administration has appealed this ruling (just like they did for the IEEPA tariffs), and the court is allowing the tariffs to continue in the meantime. The Trade Act of 1974 import tariffs can only run for 150 days without Congressional approval. They will expire on July 24th. It is unlikely that congress will approve the continued application of tariffs, as they are highly unpopular.
A higher court will need to weigh in with a decision, and ultimately, the Trump administration may force the case to the Supreme Court level again.
Products affected by the Trade Act of 1974 were imported after February 24, 2026 and include lily bulbs, bare root herbaceous perennials like our spring peonies and astilbe (not roses or shrubs-they are domestic), curcuma, callas, glads, dahlias, spring Dutch iris, and other “miscellaneous spring bulbs”.
It is so important that consumers continue to tell their representatives that these tariffs are unfair. Please help us demand the return of The Trade Act of 1974 tariffs as well. We would love to be able to return those tariffs to you as well.
Please let us know if you have any questions about this round of IEEPA tariff refunds.
