Canadian Customers
IMPORTING BULBS/ROOTS IN BULK TO CANADA
Wholesale bulb and root orders exceed the permitted “gift” or “souveneir” quantity allowed to cross the border without importing paperwork. Our customers apply for Plant Protection Permits (PPP) from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The waiting period for a permit is typically just a week or two and they are valid for 3 years.
You must be a registered business in Canada to attain a permit. You’ll need to open a My CFIA account and apply for a PPP to import dormant tulip bulbs, or whatever kind of bulb/root you are purchasing. Note: Allium may not be imported. You are not required to get a permit to import our bare root roses.
We will help you with the specifics of your application during the summer. The cost of the application is ~$37 CAD. Canadian orders are available for pick up at our farm OR at a US border package receiving site (see below). Note: due to the extra measure Canadian customers must go to attain bulb orders (pick up at farm or at a border receiving site) we can try to combine your untreated and pre-cooled orders together in a single shipment in early November.
US/CANADIAN BORDER PACKAGE RECEIVING
Here is a list of US/Canadian border businesses that receive packages for Canadian customers on the US side. Canadian buyers will need to use a receiving service or the help of another recipient in the US for their bulbs if they do not wish to pick up their order at our farm/warehouse (we are about 2 hours south of Montreal).
Note: Box orders (orders of 8 or fewer crates of bulbs) can be shipped to receiving sites listed below OR to UPS stores. Larger orders can only be shipped to receiving sites that can accept freight.
Please contact your preferred receiving site to make sure they can receive your order. You will be using their shipping address as your mailing address for your order with us. Please let us know if you find that any changes should be made to our list below.
The border crossing paperwork you need will be provided with your package. You will need to provide your Plant Protection Permit(s) to us prior to shipment. We can assist you with a video tutorial in attaining your Plant Protection Permit from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
