Tulip Bulb Harvest 2024

As predicted, after a fall that was too wet to allow on-time planting in The Netherlands, a number of bulb varieties are coming up short this summer. Tulip crop failures are being experienced primarily by those bulb farmers with clay soils (some tulips are produced on sandy soils and some are grown inland on clay soil).

Here’s what it means for us:

We will turn off new orders for tulips until the picture is more clear. This is an effort to protect our existing orders and current customers.

Once we have the result of the harvests, we will remove any varieties that are completely unavailable from all pre-orders.

Varieties that are partially available (partial crop failure in The Netherlands) will be removed from some pre-orders, beginning with those orders for which no deposit payment has been submitted, and then in reverse order from the time of order receipt (latest orders to earliest orders).

At that time, we will also re-open our wholesale tulip bulb shop with additional options for those growers who are in need of more quantities/help to cover the shortages. Our new wholesale platform allows growers to choose their own products as they’d normally order from us online, without the hassle of .pdf forms, back and forth emails, and phone tag. It’s the system we always wanted as growers, too!

We’re confident that we will have enough bulbs to meet our customers’ needs, and we are encouraged by the efforts of growers and suppliers in The Netherlands to make sure that we all have high quality bulbs to choose from if necessary. The realities of climate change make things challenging and require us all to be more flexible then ever before. We’re thankful for your support and patience.
